The Mosaic of Moods
The Mosaic of Moods is an engaging mural that spans the length of the northeast wall of Shared Ladle Hall. This vibrant artwork is crafted from broken pottery and tiles that reflect the colors and textures of Velmora’s unique climate. Each section of the mosaic artistically depicts the different weather elements—sunshine, rain, mist, and fog—integrating imagery of cooking and community nourishment in a stylistic representation. Visitors can touch the textured surfaces, experiencing a tactile connection to the recipes and seasonal offerings of the valley. The warm glow from the hall’s overhead copper lanterns bathes the mural in golden light, enhancing the vivid colors and inviting reflection on the communal ties formed through food and weather.
History
Created collaboratively by local artists and residents during the first-seed festival, the Mosaic of Moods symbolizes the unity of Velmora’s community. Over the years, it has been actively updated to incorporate new ceramic contributions from workshops held in Shared Ladle Hall, reinforcing the spirit of participation and renewal in the face of changing environmental conditions.
