The Gathering Galley
The Gathering Galley is an open-plan space that extends seamlessly from the shared kitchen areas of Mist Hearths, designed for collaborative cooking experiences. Encompassing a series of long, wide counters made from reclaimed hardwood, each station is equipped with copper utensils and an array of weather-responsive cooking devices that utilize the local elements. The atmosphere is vibrant and bustling, filled with the aromatic scents of herbs and simmering dishes as neighbours gather to craft seasonal recipes together. Large windows allow natural light to pour in, while strategically placed herbs in pots create a fragrant garden feel, making the air rich with the essence of the local flora. Ample storage for communal cooking supplies aligns the walls, allowing for easy access to ingredients sourced for the day's whims.
History
The Gathering Galley was built following a series of well-attended community workshops that highlighted the need for a dedicated space where residents could innovate together. Initially a narrow corridor, it was expanded and reimagined to include more counters and storage, reflecting the ever-evolving culinary needs and creative spirit of Velmora’s community.
