In Talverine, roads remain open while a shared story is performed at both ends. Actors cannot control an audience’s thoughts or feelings: they must persuade. A tour connects towns with conflicting memories, while stagehands, writers and performers decide whose voices will finally reach the stage.

The Lantern Refurbishment Corner

Nestled within the Touring Axle Yard, the Lantern Refurbishment Corner is a small, semi-enclosed workspace primarily dedicated to the repair and decoration of rehearsal lanterns used by travelling performance companies. The area consists of several low wooden tables cluttered with colorful glass panes, metallic fittings, and various tools. A soft, warm glow permeates from the unfinished lanterns hanging in the air, casting artistic shadows on the wooden walls. Stacks of canvases exhibit diverse designs, reflecting the vibrant history and stories of the performances. Craftspeople can be seen gluing pieces together, painting motifs, and testing shades of light. The atmosphere is filled with a mix of excitement and creative energy, as each lantern is prepared to play its part in connecting communities through shared stories.

The Puppet Workshop

Situated in a cozy nook of the Touring Axle Yard, The Puppet Workshop is a lively space where master puppeteers craft and repair an array of puppets used in performances across Talverine. Wooden puppets of different sizes, many adorned with intricate costumes, hang from the ceiling while others rest on workbenches, glaring with personalities forged through the artisans' hands. The walls are alive with sketches of puppet designs and assorted materials, including fabric, paints, and strings, are strewn all over the tables. The atmosphere is bustling yet intimate—laughter and conversation intermingle with the rhythmic sound of wood being carved and strings being adjusted as artists bring characters to life. This workshop not only serves the practical role of puppet production but also acts as a gathering space for performers to share stories and techniques, reinforcing community bonds through their craft.

The Fabric Weaving Canopy

Occupying a central position within the Touring Axle Yard, The Fabric Weaving Canopy is an expansive and semi-open structure that serves as a workshop for textile artists. Colorful banners and swathes of fabric flutter gently in the wind, suspended from wooden frames that form a protective shelter. Beneath this canopy, looms of various sizes are set up, surrounded by baskets filled with dyed threads and bolts of cloth. The artists, clad in patched work garments, are often seen weaving intricate patterns while engaging in lively conversation, blending creativity with craftsmanship. The atmosphere hums with the sound of shuttles moving rhythmically through the looms, accompanied by bursts of laughter and the occasional clattering of dropped tools. The vibrant colors of the fabric and the playful chatter create a warm, inviting space where tales of the past come woven into every thread, ensuring that each piece produced seems to carry the essence of the performances it will one day adorn.
