The Lantern Gallery
The Lantern Gallery is an open hallway within the Long Interval Inn, lined with hooks and ropes from which an array of colorful rehearsal lanterns hang. Each lantern is uniquely painted, depicting symbols and themes from various performances, offering a vibrant spectacle that captivates the eye. Beneath the soft, flickering glow of the lanterns, performers rehearse lines and melodies, their whispered rehearsals mixing with the ambient sounds of the inn. The space is designed to allow for privacy yet fosters interaction, as performers occasionally pause to discuss their roles or seek feedback from fellow artists and travelers passing through. The walls are built from rough-hewn timber, complementing the warmth of the soft textile accents scattered throughout the area, enhancing the welcoming atmosphere of creativity and collaboration.
History
The Lantern Gallery was established as an alternative to the common room for performers to prepare without overwhelming the travelers. Over time, it has become a cherished part of the inn's identity, decorated with lanterns crafted by both seasoned performers and newcomers alike, showcasing the evolving stories of the traveling companies that frequent the inn.
