Echo Chamber
The Echo Chamber is an acoustically engineered dome located at the heart of the Common Hours House, enveloped by high, arching wooden beams that seamlessly blend the natural aesthetic of timber with functional design. This space is dedicated to the oral history of borrowing time, featuring circular seating arranged around a raised center platform where storytellers can engage their audience. The walls are adorned with subtly integrated sound panels crafted from a mix of smooth stone and wood, designed to enhance the spoken word while maintaining a serene ambiance. Soft, ambient lighting filters through small skylights, casting delicate patterns that shift as the sun sets, creating a tranquil space for reflection and sharing memories.
History
Constructed in response to community desire for collective storytelling, the Echo Chamber has become a vital part of the Common Hours House. Over the years, it has hosted numerous workshops, gatherings, and tales that weave the fabric of Orivelle's shared past. Its design has been adapted to include feedback from its regular storytellers and listeners, with enhancements made to its acoustics and seating to foster more immersive storytelling experiences.
