The garden is arranged in a circular layout, with a central fountain that provides a focal point filled with colorful fish and surrounded by vibrant flowers. Soft ambient lighting is integrated into the landscaping, allowing for evening visits that feel serene and welcoming. Its design merges nature with modern aesthetics, promoting mental wellness and providing a peaceful retreat. The atmosphere is calm and inviting, making it an ideal place for patients and families to connect in moments of vulnerability.
History
The Healing Garden was established five years after Mercy General Hospital opened its doors, in response to the growing need for spaces that promote relaxation and emotional well-being among patients and their families. As the hospital sought to enhance its holistic approach to care, the garden became a fundamental feature of the landscaping. Local horticulturists and volunteers from Everday City collaborated on the garden's design, ensuring that it reflects the region's flora and emphasizes sustainability. Over the years, it has become a cherished spot for reflection, support groups, and art therapy sessions, reinforcing the hospital's commitment to nurturing not just the physical, but also the mental and emotional health of the community.
