A solar city builds its future by repairing rather than replacing.

In Cendrelis, workshops and gardens share energy from collectively maintained solar mirrors. Nothing is free or indestructible: every project needs time, materials and agreement. When two neighbourhoods claim the same heat reserve, craftspeople, gardeners and residents must invent a sharing arrangement that also protects quieter voices.

Discover the place

Test stations separated from reference samples allow careful comparisons. A cleaning area and observation counter complete the space. A solar city builds its future by repairing rather than replacing.

History

Successive improvements show collective upkeep: replaced parts, widened passages and uses adjusted to residents’ needs.

To explore

Celestial Observation Chamber

The Celestial Observation Chamber is a circular space within the Patient Yield Laboratory, distinctively designed with a domed roof made of transparent solar glass. This allows for ample natural light while collecting solar energy, enhancing the lab's sustainability. The circular layout features a central rotating platform equipped with telescopes aimed at the sky, supported by reclaimed wooden benches for researchers to gather and discuss their observations. The walls are lined with bioluminescent plants that softly illuminate the space at night, offering a unique contrast against the vibrant green of the living foliage. The atmosphere is one of quiet anticipation, fostering collaboration as residents look to the stars while maintaining awareness of their earthly repairs.

To explore

Thermal Buoyancy Chamber

The Thermal Buoyancy Chamber is a spacious, sunlit area within the Patient Yield Laboratory, designed for testing solar heating efficiency. It features high, arched ceilings made from repurposed glass panels that flood the room with light, bolstered by recycled metal frames. The chamber is filled with a series of multi-tiered tanks that visually resemble cascading waterfalls, each filled with different fluids that demonstrate varying thermal properties under solar exposure. At the center, a large interactive display made from reclaimed wood narrates the principles of thermal buoyancy, allowing visitors to engage in hands-on experiments. The room is surrounded by living walls adorned with herbs and succulents, providing a refreshing atmosphere and emphasizing the lab’s commitment to sustainability and natural harmony. There is a serene buzz of activity as residents experiment and discuss findings, the air filled with the scent of earth and green plants.
