The code of the underworld: loyalty, silence, and the cost of both.

The Famiglia is a gritty crime world spanning smoky 1920s speakeasies to modern-day penthouse suites, where organized crime operates as a shadow government with its own laws, rituals, and brutal justice. Five crime families divide the city of Porto Nero into territories — each with its own culture, racket, and blood feuds that stretch back generations. Characters navigate a world where loyalty is everything and betrayal is death; where the line between family and criminal empire is deliberately blurred. Capos, hitmen, consiglieri, money launderers, undercover detectives, and ambitious street-level soldiers all find their place. Every favour creates a debt; every debt creates danger.

The Whispering Nook

Nestled within the heart of Calvary Cemetery, The Whispering Nook is an unassuming, secluded alcove surrounded by tall, crumbling mausoleums adorned with elaborate sculptures of angels and fallen mourners. This small, shadowy area features a sturdy, weatherworn stone bench, partially covered by creeping ivy and shaded by an ancient oak tree whose gnarled roots snake through the grave markers. The atmosphere is permeated with a palpable sense of tension, the whispers of past conversations seeming to echo off the aged stone walls. Here, families come to pay respect, make quiet deals, or settle disputes secretly away from prying eyes, as it serves as an unofficial meeting point for those connected to the city's criminal underbelly. The alcove is barely visible from the main pathways, providing both a place of contemplation and a hidden venue for the machinations of Porto Nero's crime families.

History

The Whispering Nook has long been recognized among the families of Porto Nero as a discreet gathering site, with rumors dating back to the early 20th century. It has witnessed countless secret pacts, reconciliations, and tense confrontations among capos and their messengers, all seeking an atmosphere of solitude away from the public eye. As time wore on, it became a sacred enclave for honoring lost loved ones while simultaneously serving as a backdrop for the underhanded dealings that define the landscape of the city's crime. Over the decades, its importance has endured, symbolizing both the weight of familial loyalty and the heavy burden of treachery that shadows the street-level dealings among crime families.
